SWHi: A Case Study in Information Retrieval, Inference, and Visualization in the Semantic Web
December 24, 2006 | 6 Comments

One of my project during my PhD in the University of Groningen, Nederlands is to develop a semantic web application for the University Library of Groningen. SWHi is the name of this project, which is an abbreviation of the Semantic Web for History.
In this project, I develop a system which will extract information (IE) from unstructured documents as well as from metadata related to the American History. This information will be stored into a knowledge base based on an ontology.
In the end, user can access the knowledge base through a web-based user interface. Different from the plain list presentation of search results, user can see nice graphs showing concepts and their relationships as shown by above figure.
